6 Sure Fired Ways to Fail and Not Earn Money Online
The current economic climate has millions of people worldwide searching for a means to earn money online! Being able to generate a second income online is an absolute god send for many! If you’re in-between jobs, finding that your overtime is being cut, being forced to have a salary freeze or even a salary cut, having some way of earning extra money can be a life saver. However, most people who start in the Internet Marketing business opportunity and Network Marketing ‘arenas’ never make much money, in fact most fail miserably.
It’s a well known fact that on the internet thousands of people are making fantastic incomes but sadly the stark reality is that almost everyone else, the inexperienced, the ‘newbies’, the system hoppers etc. never really earn any money at all online.
All over the internet today these same mistakes are being made over and over again. To be honest I’ve made my fair share as well which, in turn, caused significant pain, expense and not to mention embarrassment before I eventually found any success in my online endeavours.
There are some fundamental reasons why this happens; the bottom line is that new people (newbies) starting out on the internet and make basic mistakes in the early stages of their online career. Many do not recover from these mistakes and fade into obscurity.
Let’s discuss some of the pitfalls and hopefully help you to avoid similar errors.
1. Getting involved in ways to earn money online which will not work
Offers abound are on the internet for you to earn money by ‘filling in questionnaires’ or ‘completing surveys’ and many other seemingly mundane tasks which purport to pay exceptionally well. Stay well away; if it was so easy everyone would be doing it. They will never pay you the earnings you need or desire, they only line the pockets of the people who promote them. Effective due diligence will uncover these sort of programmes so be sure to do this.
2. Programs where you are encouraged to generate leads but you don’t own the leads.
There are programmes paid and free that will provide you with a website and some tools to generate leads to promote an opportunity or product. However, these leads are usually locked within the programmes database and almost impossible to extract. Even though they are your leads, you can only promote one core product or business to them (the one you have signed up to). You did all the work and often spent the money marketing to generating the leads but you can’t market your own products or business to them. Beat a hasty retreat and steer clear of offers like this to save yourself time, effort and cash. You should be able to do what you want with your leads.
3. Business or programmes without a product
This sounds a bit odd but you will be amazed at how many offers abound with flashy websites, very convincing content and incredibly worded offers that do not have a credible product at their core. These are essentially scams; the bottom line when you are evaluating any opportunity, product, system or initiative is to evaluate the core product, process or method and ascertain if it actually ‘does what it says on the box’. If you get involved with one of these you will waste time and money trying to promote it only to find that no one wants to know! The acid test is this; if you wouldn’t use the product or can’t fathom the system or proposed method then don’t get involved!
4. Traffic Generating Programmes
In these programmes you usually create some sort of an ad or banner which is rotated on a network. You are encouraged to click on other people’s ads/banners to view them in the hope that you will join or buy what is on offer. For each ad or banner you click on you receive credits which get your ads shown to other people. This is extremely time consuming and gets you absolutely nowhere. I have yet to speak to anyone who has had a good experience with this type of programme. Indeed once you start you usually end up being sucked into programmes you don’t need and don’t want.
4. CPA (Cost Per Action) Programmes
Let me say from the start CPA works; you can make money, serious money! It works by you generating leads for certain online and off-line vendors. When someone clicks on your ad or link and you generate a lead for the vendor you are paid a fee or commission (handsomely in some cases). Those who know their way around CPA programmes can earn a lot of money. However, CPA is not really suitable for newbies; you really need time to understand and comprehend the complexities of how the CPA networks operate and how to get your offer in front of people who want to buy. Wait until you have some experience or you could spend weeks or even months trying to figure out how they work. Spend this time more wisely by learning internet and business basics.
5. Don’t get information overload
Don’t become overloaded with information as this will paralyse you completely. Our old friend procrastination will rear his ugly head and you will become less and less productive. One of the fundamental errors when starting off on the internet is allowing yourself to become overwhelmed. This generally leads to one place, a place called failure! Keep your focus tight and put systems in place that structure your day. Use the ‘80/20 rule’ and make sure you put filters in place to deal with your emails or you will find you will ‘go under’.
The next one is a BIGGIE
6. Finding a really good product, business or opportunity but not following it consistently
One of the biggest problems you will face is the number of offers you will receive to join opportunities. Once you start to get truly involved you will be virtually bombarded. Now, the bottom line is, when you start an online business the most difficult part is only getting involved with relevant stuff. If it doesn’t add value to your business or your day just ignore it and don’t get distracted. I wasted so much time and money in the beginning. You need to stop looking for the next ‘big shiny thing’. Find something that delivers, something that interests you and that you feel you can do consistently and, of course, will ultimately make you money online. Working on the internet is exactly the same as having a normal job; you get out what you put in. There is no silver bullet I’m afraid. It requires hard work, patience and persistence, just like anything else. There is one other thing I would add here; get a good mentor! If you have to pay it will be money well spent.
Don’t hop from offer to offer, it will get you nowhere. Use your common sense and stick with one or two things that you feel will work. If you do this you will succeed and as you master your chosen area you can then expand into others. Once you have mastered one you will have developed the skills to move easily into other areas and expand accordingly.
If you want to Earn Money Online you can, providing, of course you approach it with a professional mindset, a willingness to learn and a good work ethic. If you are prepared to do this you have a chance, a good chance. Good luck and I hope the advice above helps you to avoid at least some of the pitfalls that lay ahead.
